Youth Mental Health First Aid Training In-Person
This Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, brought to you by the Maine State Library and Sweetser, provided free for all library workers in Maine, is an evidence-based, nonclinical comprehensive certification course teaching skills for:
- Recognizing common signs & symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges in adolescents
- Intervening & supporting an adolescent facing mental health or substance use challenges
- Mental health and substance use crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Connecting youth in need with appropriate mental health supports
- including resources for Maine and US National mental healthcare options/services
- Practicing self-care and building self-care habits (how to better support yourself to better support others!)
Taught by certified YMHFA Instructors from Sweetser, licensed through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. Completion of this training awards Youth Mental Health First Aider certification through NCMW, valid for 3 years.
