Building Your Library Collection Around Your Community (Virtual) Online

Libraries are many things to many people and recently we’ve begun to hear libraries aren’t only about books, they’re about people. How do we connect the two? In this session, learn how to build library collections to reflect who is in your community today, and who could be in your community tomorrow.

Kym Powe (she/her) has been working in libraries for over fourteen years and specializes in youth services. She is currently the Children/Young Adult Consultant with the Connecticut State Library in the Division of Library Development. In her time with the State Library, she has been a panelist and facilitator of state and national conferences, meetings, and trainings. She presented on the importance and building and maintaining inclusive library collections, recently speaking as the keynote and acting as a course advisor for a School Library Journal/ Library Journal course. Kym is also a 2023 Library Journal Mover and Shaker.
