Spring Council Meeting Online

Register for Spring Council!

Plan on joining colleagues from across our region via Zoom on June 7 from 9:00-12:00.

What will we talk about?

During the quarterly MLAC Meeting, region reps discussed concerns about ongoing challenging issues libraries are facing across the state- from potential book challenges to a rise in serving people experiencing homelessness or addiction, library workers are dealing with many difficult situations. In recognition of all of this, we’ll be joined by Kerrie Lattari from York Public Schools who will share experiences with recent book challenges and what you can do to make sure your library’s policies are where they need to be to protect the library. This will set the stage for small group discussions. We will also be joined by Lori Fisher who, in addition to being State Librarian, is certified by the Yoga Alliance and has been a yoga instructor for many years. Lori will lead a discussion of the practice of breathwork and mindfulness for selfcare.

Following the presentations, we'll have break out discussions focusing on how library policies can help mitigate some of the stress that comes along with difficult topics, controversial programming, and more. Bring along one (or more) of your library policies and workshop how to improve it during the discussion.
